Complementary

In my art process, I begin by creating a rough sketch to lay the foundation for my piece. Once the sketch is complete, I move on to the line art phase. Using the color dark peach (DA7C71), I carefully outline the subject, making sure to set the layer to multiply to achieve depth.

With the subject outlined, I move on to the background. I choose a vibrant Persian blue (234C8) and fill the entire background. The next step involves selecting the subject using the lasso tool and filling it with the warm hue of Tahiti gold or vibrant orange (EF7F13).

To bring texture to the background, I blend denim dark blue (1E1C87) into the upper corner using a color variations brush. This adds a traditional brush strokes texture to the piece. In the lighter areas, I mix in the color Tahiti gold or vibrant orange for contrast.

Moving on to coloring the skin, I begin with a pastel red shade (D5654F) applied with a watercolor wet brush. Building on that, I add darker shades of pastel red to create depth and dimension. I introduce a pinkish tone with deep rose pink (C13F6F) to enhance the skin's natural coloring.

For creating shadows, I opt for cooler tones. Violent violet or dark purple (30105B) is my choice for shadow areas, which I blend with a Brownish Red (9D3E2A) to harmonize it with the skin tone. To intensify the shadows, I use a very dark purple shade.(22082B)

Attention then turns to the hair, which I fill with a blueish purple hue (160B29). To achieve a realistic look, I incorporate reflecting light into the hair. Persian blue is used for the reflective light, while Tahiti gold and brownish red are added for areas directly lit.

Next comes the dress, which I color in a dark shade that complements the overall composition. The eyes and eyebrows are carefully detailed using black, giving the subject a distinct appearance.

In a multiply layer, I introduce dark violet using a soft airbrush to enhance shadows and add depth. To further enhance realism, I introduce loose strands of hair.

And there you have it, step by step, my artistic process from sketching to the finishing touches, resulting in a beautifully colored and textured portrait.
